'Let's go home together'
Layman P'ang, Zen Buddhist
For eight days from September 18th to September 25th a small group walked through the Brecon Beacons. This was an opportunity to sink deeper into being with what is, while walking through some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain. During a large part of each day we walked in silence. Silence is the most effective tool we have to cut through illusions and to come home to our Self. There were also some short meditations and opportunities, especially in the evenings, to share the experience of the journey with each other.
The evenings were spent at one of two camps. The first camp was on the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons, and the other in Cwmdu. Meals were prepared and shared together each evening and the greatest part of each day was spent walking and being in magnificent mountainous countryside.
The first participants gathered at the first camp on the evening of 17th September and others joined us later in the week. The route started near the small village of Bethlehem on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons and ended at our farmhouse on the southern slopes of the Sugarloaf Mountain ('Y Fâl' is the Welsh name, which means 'The Peak'). This is at the eastern edge of the Beacons, and just 3 miles out of Abergavenny. It was therefore a literal walking home to Llyweddrog Farm. More than this though, the week provided an opportunity to sink deeper into silence and come home to ourselves.
Visha walked with us on one of the days and continually provided support during the whole event.
